Custom reporting automation

One-off requests, without a one-off project.

Ad-hoc reporting is the tax on every reporting team: a regulator query, a client request, a due diligence exercise, a board question. Because the connectivity, mappings and reporting model already exist in Datox, a new view of the same data is configuration rather than a new build.

The pattern

Most ad-hoc reporting is not really new data

In practice, an ad-hoc request usually asks for data that already flows through your reporting workflows, cut differently. The expensive part is re-extracting and re-checking it. Once that layer is automated, the marginal cost of a new report drops sharply.

  • The same validated dataset can be filtered, aggregated and presented differently.
  • New calculations can be added without disturbing existing reporting.
  • Outputs can be produced as documents, spreadsheets or datasets as required.
  • The evidence and lineage behind an ad-hoc answer are the same as for a filing.
Promotion

When a one-off becomes a routine

Ad-hoc reports have a habit of recurring. Datox lets you promote one into a scheduled workflow with owners, validation and delivery, instead of repeating it manually each time it is asked for.

Promoting a report

  • Save the configuration used for the one-off request.
  • Add validation rules and a review step appropriate to its use.
  • Set a schedule and assign an owner.
  • Deliver automatically to the requesting audience.
